Travel: Kraków – Poland Photo Diary Day 1

Saturday, August 19, 2017

Past January (yeah I know, I am up to date) my friend Paulina turned 22 and she had asked Steffi and me if we wanted to join her for a trip to Poland over her birthday. So we had booked our flights and the hotel in December 2016, packed our stuff and arrived on Friday evening in Kraków. It was my first time staying in this country and I was super excited for the weekend.

If I had to describe this trip I would say: Chaos. It was pure chaos (as always with Paule, hahaha). On the first (well second, if you count arrival day) day we did a lot of sightseeing, exploring Stare Miasto, Kazimierz, Rynek Glowny and even the Ghetto. Actually I really wanted to see Leonardo da Vinci's "Lady with an Ermine" at Czartoryski museum at Wawel Castle (because we hadn't no opportunity to go another day) but we just missed the entry time for about 10 min. I was really sad and felt guilty because our whole group made all the way back from Kazimierz to Wawel just for me but well ... happens. Sorry again, guys. In the evening we went bar and club hopping to celebrate Paulina's birthday. Good memories.

But it was real fun and I was very impressed how beautiful Kraków was. Every corner looked very neat and every quarter had his own charm. We were really lucky with the weather. Sure it was freezing cold but at least the sun was shining and we had no rain or additional snow.

And holy, how cheap food in Poland is! I thought that Germany was cheap but Poland was just another level. We had loooots of pirogi and other great rich food and always paid so little for our meals. Food heaven.
